The Dick Hacke Foundation was founded to honor Dick's life-long passion for providing youth with the camp experience. He spent much of his 50 year career as a professional scouter as a camp director for the Marin and Redwood Empire Councils and took particular joy in the maintenance and improvement of the facilities in their camps. During his life Dick funded three $100,000 trusts; one for his high school, Lick Wilmerding in San Francisco, and one each for the Marin and Redwood Empire councils. The trusts for the councils were intended for use in purchasing program equipment for camps. To augment that generous donation, we his family, felt that funds raised in his memory should be used for the maintenance and improvement of the camps themselves.
As such, the Foundation's goal is to build a lasting legacy to his dedication and generosity through the creation of an endowment from which both councils can obtain the means to plan and construct specific improvement projects on their properties.
